Impressive Liverpool thrash Wolves as fans return to Anfield

Hello and welcome to Telegraph Sport’s live coverage of tonight’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Wolves at Anfield.

After Spurs’ comfortable North London derby victory earlier today, a win for Liverpool would only take them into second place in the Premier League table.

And Anfield will welcome back its first fans since March with 2,000 allowed in tonight.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is looking forward to seeing their return but had a word of advice for those maybe arriving expecting to see the blistering football of last season.

“I hope it will be a great experience for all of us but I don’t know,” he added.

“As I said before, as a player I played very often in front of 2,000 people and they were not always in the best mood to be honest.

“Two thousand people can create a bad mood, I remember that very well!

“I hope 2,000 people can be really influential, that they really help. First and foremost, they have to enjoy the game.”

After impressing on his Champions League debut against Ajax on Tuesday night, Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to start in goal in place of first-choice Alisson who is out for a fortnight with a hamstring injury.

Alisson was the latest player to join Liverpool’s increasingly long injury list, with Virgil van Dijk, James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez also sidelined. It is hoped, however, that Alexander-Arnold, Keita and Shaqiri may return to action tonight.

Wolves will be without Raul Jimenez who has had surgery on his fractured skull following a clash of heads with David Luiz during his side’s defeat of Arsenal last Sunday. Goalscorers Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence, however, are expected to start.

Meanwhile, Klopp has claimed Chelsea are favourites to lift the Premier League title this season because of the strength and depth of the squad that coach Frank Lampard has at his disposal.
